“Every Drop Matters”: India’s Pulse Polio Drive 2025 Sends a Strong Global Message

Pulse Polio

India has once again stepped forward to protect its future. On December 21, 2025, the country launched its latest Pulse Polio Immunization Campaign, targeting children aged 0–5 years to maintain its hard-earned polio-free status.

This massive one-day effort, part of National Immunization Day, covered thousands of booths, transit points, and mobile teams across regions including Jammu & Kashmir, Kashmir Valley, Bengaluru, and Ladakh. The goal was clear and powerful: not a single child should be missed.

🇮🇳 India in Action: Region-wise Highlights

In Jammu & Kashmir, authorities set up 10,893 vaccination booths and 248 transit points, aiming to immunize over 1.98 million children. To ensure full coverage, house-to-house follow-ups were planned for December 22–23.

The Kashmir region focused on sustaining its polio-free record through widespread awareness and community participation.

In Bengaluru, urban accessibility took center stage. Parents could easily locate nearby vaccination centers using mobile apps and helplines, making the process smooth and stress-free.

Meanwhile, Ladakh planned vaccinations from 9 AM to 4 PM over three days, covering both urban and remote rural areas. Eye-catching banners and local outreach helped spread awareness even in the cold, high-altitude regions.

🌍 Global Picture: Progress with Persistent Risks

Globally, the fight against polio continues.

  • Pakistan launched its final anti-polio drive of 2025 on December 15, aiming to protect 45 million children. Polio cases have dropped to 30 in 2025, down from 74 in 2024, despite ongoing security challenges for health workers.

  • In Gaza, WHO-supported campaigns are ongoing after poliovirus was detected in wastewater. Over 556,000 children under 10 have already been vaccinated, with another round planned for February 2025 using nOPV2.

🌱 The Bigger Truth: Why These Campaigns Matter

Polio cases worldwide have fallen by 99%, thanks to vaccines. However, outbreaks still occur in low-immunity areas, often worsened by conflict, migration, and misinformation.

India’s strong cold-chain systems, media outreach, and ground-level planning prove how public health success is built. Vaccines are safe, and multiple doses strengthen immunity, especially during outbreaks.

Polio anywhere is a threat everywhere.
India’s Pulse Polio Campaign 2025 is not just a national mission—it’s a global reminder that together, eradication is possible.
