SIR Phase Two Progress
The second phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) was rolled out across 12 states and Union Territories in late 2025. The voter lists were officially frozen at midnight on February 7, 2026, as confirmed by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Booth Level Officers (BLOs) distributed Unique Enumeration Forms to voters for verification against 2003 electoral records. Each BLO conducted up to three household visits to ensure proper matching. Political parties also assisted through Booth Level Agents, who were authorized to collect up to 50 forms.
Additionally, online submissions were enabled to make the process smoother and more accessible.
Assam Final Voter List 2026
On February 21, 2026, Assam released its final voter list for SR 2026. The updated roll covers 126 Assembly constituencies with a total of 2.49 crore electors, slightly down from 2.52 crore in the draft version.

- 343 third-gender voters
- 2.43 lakh names removed after verification
The revision followed extensive house-to-house verification conducted between November and December 2025.
Tamil Nadu Final Electoral Roll
Tamil Nadu’s Chief Electoral Officer Archana Patnaik released the Final SIR Electoral Roll on February 23, 2026. A total of 97.37 lakh names were deleted to enhance roll accuracy.
Voters can verify their details online by entering their name, EPIC number, or other identifiers on the official Voters’ Services Portal.
Key Voter Initiatives
The Election Commission has introduced several structural improvements:
- No polling booth will exceed 1,200 voters
- New polling stations added in high-rise buildings, gated communities, and slum areas
- Special outreach to elderly, PwD, and tribal voters
