GATE 2026, conducted by IIT Guwahati, has received a major update that every aspirant must know. The GATE 2026 admit card release has been postponed, creating a wave of concern among candidates across India.
Earlier, the hall ticket was scheduled to be released on January 2, 2026, but the organizing institute has now confirmed that the revised date will be announced soon on the official website gate2026.iitg.ac.in.
The good news? Exam dates remain unchanged.
GATE 2026: Important Dates at a Glance
The GATE 2026 registration process began on August 25, 2025, and concluded on October 6, 2025 (including late fee submissions). The application correction window closed in November 2025, giving candidates sufficient time to fix errors.
The examination is scheduled to be conducted on:

Morning: 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM

Afternoon: 2:30 PM – 5:30 PM

The exam will take place across 235 exam centers in India.
What’s New in GATE 2026?
This year brings some notable changes:

A new paper: Energy Science (XE-I) has been introduced under Engineering Sciences.
